Convergence des Jeunesses Républicaines (COJER, Senegal)
Introduction
The Convergence des Jeunesses Républicaines (COJER) is the officially recognised youth organisation of Senegal’s governing Alliance pour la République – APR. It emerged alongside the APR’s launch in 2008 and was formally structured nationwide in 2012, giving young activists a platform to promote President Macky Sall’s reform agenda.1) COJER now has sections in all 46 departments and in major diaspora hubs such as France.2)
Objectives
According to public statements by successive national coordinators, COJER seeks to:
Organisation
* National Coordinator (*Coordonnateur·rice national·e*) heads the movement and appoints an Executive Bureau. * 44 departmental coordinations, plus specialised wings for students, women, and the diaspora. * COJER organises an annual Université Républicaine (national youth forum) and regional Forums de l’Emploi.6)
International Work
COJER focuses on domestic mobilisation; it is not affiliated to global liberal networks such as IFLRY or LYMEC.7)
